SECTION 15832
AIR CURTAINS, INDUSTRIAL
NOTE ** This section is based on products manufactured by
Mars(R) Air Doors, at the following address:
NOTE ** 14716 South Broadway
NOTE ** Gardena CA 90248
NOTE ** Tel: (213) 770-1555
NOTE ** Tel: (800) 421-1266
NOTE ** Fax: (310) 324-3030
NOTE **
NOTE ** Mars Air Doors offers a complete line of Air
Curtains providing the benefits of temperature
control and environmental separation. Models are
offered in a commercial and industrial design and
can be configured with heat. Heated units include
gas, electric, steam and hot water coil models.
NOTE ** A typical installation is over a building's
exterior door or window opening. They provide
excellent protection at reducing a building's
heating and cooling costs when these exterior doors
need to be opened. At the same time, they repel
gusts of wind and minimize the entrance of
windborne dust, fumes, pollutants, and flies.
Additionally, they help to expedite the flow of
traffic from one work area to another or in and out
the building, by providing an unobstructive view of
the opening. This section covers the industrial
part of their product line: "Standard," "High
Velocity (HV)," "Extra Power (EP)," "Windguard
(BD)," "Extra High Velocity (EHV)," and "Extra High
H Velocity (EHH)" models. See their other Section
15831 for commercial models.

2.2 MANUFACTURED UNITS
NOTE ** Retain the following paragraph if specifying Mars
"Standard," "HV" (High Velocity), or "EP" (Extra
Power) Model units. "Standard" and "HV" models are
used over freezer and cooler doors to reduce
humidity and ice buildup, sealing in cold air and
saving energy. They are also used over
receiving/service entrances for both climate and
insect control.
NOTE **
NOTE ** "Standard," "HV," and "EP" models are used for
climate control and energy conservation; installed
inside of buildings with high ceilings, they bring
wasted hot air from the ceiling over the door
opening and to the floor level. This eases the
load on the heating system. These models are also
available heated with electric coils, gas, steam,
and hot water single or double row coils.
NOTE ** "Standard," "HV" (High Velocity), "EP" (Extra
Power), and "Windguard (BD)" models are all used
for the same reasons. The height of the door
dictates which model to use. All four of these
models are available in gas, electric, steam, or
hot water coil forms of heat. "Standard" and "HV"
models can also be used over cooler and freezer
doors. Units can be mounted either inside or
outside of the building. If using a heated model,
it must be mounted inside the building.
NOTE **
NOTE ** "EHV" and "EHH" models are for insect control only.
They are available as unheated models only. They
can be mounted either inside or outside of the
building.
